REVISION OF RESOLUTION OENO 7/2007 ON OENOLOGICAL CARBON

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

In view of article 2, paragraph 2 iv of the Agreement of 3rd April 2001 establishing the International Organisation of Vine and Wine,

CONSIDERING the work of the “Specifications of oenological products” Expert Group,

CONSIDERING that the levels of ashes may exceed 10% if the carbon is agglomerated with bentonite,

DECIDES to modify the sheet F-COEI-1-CHARBO, in Chapter 1 of the International Oenological Codex as follows:

Revision of Resolution OIV-OENO 7/2007 on oenological carbon

In point 1 “OBJECT, ORIGIN AND FIELD OF THE APPLICATION”, the last phrase of the second paragraph is modified as follows (the struck-out part is deleted):

Carbon can also be agglomerated with bentonite, in which case, the ashes in 3.2 are more than 20%.

In point 3.2 “ASHES”, the second part of the sentence is added:

Incinerate the previously obtained dry residue at 500°C-600°C. These ashes should not be more than 10%. Carbon agglomerated with bentonite should have ashes more than 10% and less than 30%.
