RESOLUTION OENO 13/2006
MAXIMUM LIMIT OF LEAD IN WINE
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,
CONSIDERING Article 2, paragraph 4 of the Agreement of 3 April 2001 establishing the International Organisation of Vine and Wine,
UPON PROPOSAL of the Sub-Commission of the Methods of Analysis and Appraisal of Wines
IN VIEW of Resolution Oeno 1/1996 which aims at proposing a reduction of this limit in
the coming years once the technological progress allows this reduction to be possible,
IN VIEW of recommendations from the World Health Organisation, which encourages the reduction of lead content in foods,
IN VIEW of the opinion of the “Food Security” experts group,
DECIDES to replace in Annex C of the International Compendium of Analysis of Wine and Musts, the existing lead limit with 0.15 mg/l for wine made, starting from the 2007 harvest year,
ENCOURAGES the member states to disseminate pertinent information as widely as possible in order to maintain lead contents at the technologically lowest possible levels.
