HARMONISATION OF LABELLING OF WINES – VARIETAL NAME INDICATION

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

CONSIDERING the OIV International Standard for the labelling of wines,

CONSIDERING that the prescriptions concerning labelling standards should not create unnecessary obstacles to international trade,

CONSIDERING that it is advisable to provide clear and useful information about all wines for the consumers,

ADOPTS the following amendment to the International Standard for the labelling of wines:

In Article 3.1.4. „Varietal name“ the sentence „- the wine benefits from a recognised appellation of origin or a recognised geographic indication;“ is deleted.
