The importance of this symposium
In the framework of the International Year of Vine and Wine, the Symposium is aimed to generate an international debate around the phytosanitary, regulatory, economic, and social aspects associated to two major grapevine epidemic diseases, Pierce’s Disease and Flavescence dorée, and to encourage the discussion about the current state and the perspectives for the health and productivity of the vineyards worldwide.
The symposium is organised in the following four sessions:
- Session 1 - Diseases epidemiology and the impact of climate change
- Session 2 - Diseases monitoring and control: international standards
- Session 3 - Diseases monitoring and control: regulatory frames
- Session 4 – Mitigation strategies and economy impact
A round table entitled "Towards a coordinated international approach" will take place at the end of the symposium to encourage debate about the relevance of collective strategies to face these challenges.
