WARNING: This resolution amends the following resolution:

-          OENO 38/2000

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

IN VIEW of article 2, paragraph 2 ii of the Agreement of 3rd April 2001 establishing the International Organisation of Vine and Wine,

DECIDES, on the proposal of Commission II “Oenology”, to update monograph E-COEI-1-POTBIS in the International Oenological Codex as follows:

Update to file E-COEI-1-POTBIS on potassium hydrogen sulfite

In the section ‘4. PROPERTIES’, the second paragraph is modified as follows:

4.      PROPERTIES

Potassium hydrogen sulfite is found in the form of a colorless or slightly yellow solution obtained by passing a current of sulfur dioxide through an aqueous potassium hydroxide solution.

Potassium Hydrogen-sulfite solutions used in wine-making usually contain between 281 and 375 g/l potassium hydrogen sulfite, these values corresponding to 150 to 200 g/l sulfur dioxide. are unstable and should not contain less than 70 g/l or more than 200 g/l SO2.

In the section ‘7. QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS’, the second paragraph is modified as follows:

7.      QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS

The sulfur dioxide (SO2) content of the solution, expressed in pp 100 (m/v), is 0.64 x n (concentration cannot be less than 150 70 g/l).
