VINE PHYSIOLOGY

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

Based on the proposai of Commission I “ Viticulture ”, taking into account the results of the IVth Symposium on the Vine that was held in Italy (San Michèle all’Adige and Turin) on May 11-15, 1992,

DECLARES:

• The influences of genetic characteristics, of soils and of man on vine physiology;
• That through physiological modifications, it is possible to control the vigor, production and quality of vine products,

DRAWS the attention of the Member Countries to the need to develop studies

• Aimed at the standardization of méthodologies
• On the relationship between vigor, productivity and quality, taking into account aspects of phys­ iology, health, molecular biology and viticulture,

WISHES the organization of another Symposium on these same subjects in three years.
