MAINTAINING THE SCIENTIFIC STRUCTURES OF THE OFFICE

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF VINE AND WINE, at its 1st meeting,

WHEREAS article 5 of the Agreement governing the creation of the International Organization of Vine and Wine, signed in Paris on April 3, 2001 (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement) stipulates that the General Assembly decides the creation and withdrawal of Committees and Sub-committees,

RECALLING the organizational structure of the existing Committees, Sub-committees and Groups of Experts within the International Office of Vine and Wine (hereinafter referred to as "the Office") on the entry into force of the Agreement,

CONSIDERING the International Convention for the unification of the methods of analysis and appreciation of wines of October 13, 1954, which created obligations at the level of domestic legislation for certain members of the Office,

CONSIDERING article 5, paragraph 7 of the Agreement, which stipulates that the constituent bodies of the International Organization of Vine and Wine will function in an open and transparent way,

HEREBY decides to maintain, until the General Assembly during the year after the year of entry into force of the Agreement, the same Committees, Sub-committees and Groups of Experts within the International Organization of Vine and Wine as they existed in the Office at the date on which the Agreement came into effect, including in particular the conventional Sub-committee on the unification of the methods of analysis and appreciation of wines,

HEREBY confirms that all the members of the Organization must have equal access to and rights to participate in all the Committees, Sub-committees and Groups of Experts, including in particular the conventional Sub-committee on the unification of the methods of analysis and appreciation of wines, and that the rules of procedure must take this into account.

HEREBY decides that the Committees, Sub-committees, and Groups of Experts of the International Organization of Vine and Wine will begin their activities as of the day after this General Assembly.

HEREBY requests the Executive Committee to draft proposals on the scientific structures required to implement the strategic plan
