REVISION OF LIMITS OF LEAD OF CERTAIN OENOLOGICAL PRODUCTS – MODIFICATION OF MONOGRAPHS
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
CONSIDERING Article 2 paragraph 2 iv of the Agreement of April 3, 2001 establishing the International Organisation of Vine and Wine,
TAKING NOTICE of the works of the Sub-commission of Methods of Analysis and Appraisal of Wine and the Specification of Oenological Products expert group,
CONSIDERING the joint experts committee FAO/WHO (JECFA), during the 61st and 63rd session, decided to revise the limits of certain heavy metals of certain additives or processing aids,
CONSIDERING that certain additives or processing aids are described in the International Oenological Codex,
CONSIDERING the need to harmonise international standards,
DECIDES, on the proposal of Commission II « Oenology » to replace in International Oenological Codex the current limit of lead set at 5 mg/kg for to the limit of 2 mg/kg for the following additives or processing aids:
- Ammonium chloride
- Calcium carbonate
- Dimethyl dicarbonate
- Lactic acid
- Lysozyme
- Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone
- Sorbic acid
- DL-tartaric acid
- L-tartaric acid
- Ascorbic acid
