RESOLUTION ECO 1/95

COHERENCE OF COMPUTER SCIENCE FOR VITIVINICULTURE

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

ON THE PROPOSAL of Commission III "Vitivinicultural Economy"

IN VIEW of the reports and accounts presented during the 74th General Assembly in Paris from the 6th to the 8th of June 1994 on the topic "Computers and new methods in market management",

DECLARES that numerous Member States and dependent official organisations, use computer means, more or less developed, for the estimation of harvests, production control, the following of the prices and values, and for modeling;

REGARDS it appropriate that the O.I.V. contributes, where it is concerned, to improve the coherence of the aids and methodologies used, in order to allow aggregation of the data on a world scale and to have a better understanding of the vitivinicultural sector by taking into account different sectors of the market, notably fine wines, table wine, new wine- based products;

ENTRUSTS the Expert  Group  "Economic  Analysis  and  Outlook"  with  the  task  of  assessing existing computer aids and to propose recommendations necessary to obtain a coherent approach to the situation at a world level;

ASKS of the Member states and/or associated operators, to allow, whenever necessary,  for facilitation of the work engaged to this end by the aforementioned Expert Group;

RECALLS that the O.I.V.’s interventions must be compatible with its budget.
