The President of the OIV selected a vintage to celebrate the OIV's centenary in 2024.

Jean-François Curie and the Boisset family of fine wines, current owners of Domaine Maire et Fils, have made several parcel selections of Arbois Pinot Noir from the 2022 harvest available to Luigi Moio.

Under the sign of Pasteur

After discovering a few bottles of wine from the Vigne de l'OIV in the OIV cellar, donated to Arbois 30 years ago in 1994 by Mr Henri Maire, Professor Luigi Moio wanted to combine these geographical and historical elements and create a cuvée from the same terroir, based on the 2022 vintage, the year of the bicentenary of the birth of Pasteur, who conducted his first oenological experiments in Arbois.

Loyalty to Pinot Noir

Known for his work on identifying the aromas of Pinot Noir, which he also carried out 30 years ago as a post-doctoral fellow at INRA's Laboratoire de Recherches sur les Aromes and at the Institut Universitaire de la Vigne et du Vin de l'Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, the President of the OIV has chosen to devote this cuvée to Pinot Noir, seeking to express the aromatic range of this grape variety where aromas of small red fruits dominate with supple, silky tannins.

H 29

Enthralled by the project, Jean-François Curie and the Boisset family of fine wines, current owners of Domaine Maire et Fils, have made available to Luigi Moio several parcel selections of Arbois Pinot Noir from the 2022 harvest. After three tasting sessions in September 2022, March and June 2023, the President of the OIV worked closely with oenologist Jacques Hauller, director of the Domaine Maire et Fils site, to select a cuvée from 30-year-old vines planted on clay-limestone soils. At the final sensory evaluation session on 22 June, the final cuvée was identified at the winery as "H29", 29 being the day the OIV was founded in November 1924.
