Inauguration of Clos Pau Roca: A tribute in Dijon

13 Oct 2024

On October 13, the city of Dijon paid heartfelt tribute to Pau Roca, who served as Director General of the OIV from 2019 to 2023, by naming a clos (vineyard) in his honor.

Pau Roca, who passed away at the end of 2023, was instrumental in relocating the OIV's headquarters to Dijon and initiated the celebration of the organization's Centennial Year.

The ceremony featured the unveiling of the plaque and gateway of the "Clos Pau Roca," by François Rebsamen, mayor of Dijon, and Luis Planas, Spain's Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food. Also in attendance were John Barker, current Director General of the OIV, and Luigi Moio, president of the OIV. Diana Ribera, Pau Roca's wife, was present along with their children Ana, Quico, Teresa, and her husband Eduardo, as well as their granddaughter Eugenia.

During the event, 20 grafted vines from Dijon's mother plants were planted, marking the start of a new era for the city's vineyards. The ceremony concluded in an atmosphere of gratitude and solidarity, with deep recognition of Pau Roca's lasting legacy.

Clos Pau Roca is located at the intersection of Henri Dunant, René Cassin, and Croix des Valendons streets.
