The Director General took the opportunity to highlight the importance of the OIV’s mission of international cooperation in providing collective and consensus-based solutions to global challenges. In a context of evolving consumption patterns and geopolitical tensions, international trade remains a key driver of resources and development for wine-producing economies. The Director General reiterated the OIV’s support for the vitivinicultural sector and its cooperative role with other intergovernmental organisations in continuing efforts to improve global wine marketing conditions, noting that in 2025, 1 out of every 2 bottles of wine consumed worldwide is an exported bottle.
