RESOLUTION ECO 1/2001

STATISTICS

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

BASED ON THE PROPOSAL by Commission II “Vitivinicultural Economy”, and the work of “Economic Analysis and Outlook” experts group,

CONSIDERING the need for improved data in the vitivinicultural sector:

  1. To facilitate effective global policies, both governmental and intergovernmental;
  2. To enable grape producers and transformation industries of grapes to develop efficient plans for the future;
  3. To demonstrate the economic significance of an impact of the sector to intergovernmental agencies,

URGES member States to collect and disseminate annual data on volume of production, stocks, imports, exports, consumption and consumer behaviour and, when possible, the prices. Prices for production and for consumption are separate and they should be accompanied by an explanation of the manner by which these have been derived.

URGES the Member States carrying out periodical calculations (either monthly, quarterly or every two quarters) to make them available to the OIV as quickly as possible at the end of each period, and at the latest within 9 months.
